Time

Time,
Continuous,
Constantly changing,
Stopping for no one,
Carrying you along,
Along the current of life.

Days pass,
One after the other.
Merging into a seamless motion picture.

Sometimes there is a need to press pause,
To take some time,
To fully immerse ourselves in the present,
To notice the suns warmth on our skin,
The rustling of the wind through the trees,
Birds chattering,
And the butterfly fluttering amongst the long grass
A snapshot of time.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow is a new day,
Filled with opportunity and promise,
Take it,
Waste it,
Begin again,
Tomorrow is a new day.

Beauty

Beauty,
An ideal many contemplate and strive for,
A concept held in the eye of the beholder.

When we judge ourselves and others,
Do we simply skim the surface,
Or do we dive much deeper.

Misguided in our definition,
Is it sometimes forgotten that beauty grows from within.

Struggling to Pause

Blue water,
Sparkling from the shining sun,
The sound of the ocean,
Calming.

Wide open beaches,
Create the feeling of space,
The gentle lapping of the sea against the shore,
The illusion of time.

Yet I cannot pause and relax,
The need to push on,
For fear of missing something
Swells inside,
The need to see everything,
Do everything,
Make the most of everything.

But,
What if making the most of everything,
Is sitting still, silent,
Taking in the beautiful scenery,
To be in the moment instead of pondering the next.

So I lay out my towel,
Sink my feet into the sand,
And I sit, still, silent,
Gazing out at the blue water,
Sparkling from the shining sun.

Gentle Giant

Fear was the first emotional felt,
But we soon came to learn that your bark was much worse than your bite,
A proper sized dog was what we agreed,
And that you most certainly were.

You grew in size and strength,
But you were always a gentle giant at heart,
Beautiful both inside and out.

They say that a dog is a mans best friend,
And for many years you were mine,
When I needed space you would walk silently by my side,
Offering comfort and company,
Even now, long after leaving home you still have a place in my heart.

Sadly old age has you in its grasp,
And it's time to say goodbye,
We were witnesses to your life and you to ours,
You will be missed, remembered and loved,
Goodnight.
